Property Advisory was founded in March 2004 by Directors Dougal Smith and Paul Mills. Our team has since grown to include Dave Oxnam (Director), Nick Cottam and Lucy Miller. We are able to offer clients a unique combination of skills, experience and expertise that sets us apart from others in the industry. A registered valuer and director of Property Advisory Limited, Paul is experienced in rural valuation and primary industry based property consultancy. He has built up expertise in most areas of rural property valuation, with a particular focus in dairy, pastoral and high country land. Paul’s core skill base is derived from a combination of university education and recent practical valuation experience. Paul is a member of the NZPMI and PINZ.
FPINZ – Registered Valuer, B Com VPM, Dip Hort
A registered valuer and director of Property Advisory Limited, Dougal has extensive expertise in the valuation of specialized assets, industrial land, residential block land, forestry, viticulture and compensation assessments in terms of the Public Works Act and negotiated settlements. He is well regarded for his high level of technical ability and ability to undertake complex asset valuation projects and consultancy and operates across the South and North islands in this capacity. Dougal also undertakes economic and cost benefit analysis for a number of larger scale infrastructure assets and is a member of PINZ.
MPINZ – Registered Valuer, B Com VFM
A registered valuer and director of Property Advisory Limited, David undertakes valuations and consultancy of rural properties across the South Island. He is well regarded for his strong analytical abilities and focus on details and technical aspects of the valuation of farm assets. David undertakes and manages a number of larger scale corporate farm valuation projects and is well known for his ability in regards to market analysis and market knowledge. David is a member of NZPMI and PINZ and actively communicates with a number of intermediaries in the South Island rural market.

Nick is a registered valuer and is focused on the valuation of dairy, arable and pastoral property across the Canterbury Region. He has a strong technical ability and undertakes a number of compensation and infrastructure assessments as well as block land valuations. Nick has worked on a number of projects that have demanded a high level of strategic analysis and detail and he has an ability to undertake and execute these assignments to a high standard. Nick is a member of PINZ.
MPINZ – Graduate Valuer, B Com VFM, Lincoln University
Lucy is a graduate valuer and is focused on the valuation of rural properties across the Canterbury Region. She has a strong rural background and good knowledge of the Canterbury Region, in particular the dairy and pastoral farm markets. Lucy has worked on a diverse range of valuation projects and has a strong commitment to the rural market and a focus on delivery and detail in her work. She has an active interest in farming, working on a dairy farm property managed by her partner. Lucy is a member of PINZ.
